Following our usual format, this session will be split into two halves. During the first half we’ll hear from an inspirational woman in our industry, and following this we’ll be taking a deep dive into Imposter Syndrome.
This session’s inspiration woman is Helen Parsons, Executive Director of U Hold the Key & Parsons Containers. U Hold the Key have 12 external storage sites, predominantly in the Northeast of England. Helen has had an interesting background, starting out as an accountant, and later joining the family self storage business in 2018. She lives largely in Paris, popping back to the UK when she needs to. Helen is passionate about sharing her experience of working with family, leading with your strengths, and building trust through honest, human communication.
Following Helen, we’ll be hearing from Jane Warden, a corporate trainer who delivers courses on handling Imposter Syndrome. Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern where someone feels like a fraud, despite clear evidence of their competence or success. Moments of Imposter Thinking happen too when we are faced with something which is outside our comfort zone. People experiencing imposter syndrome often believe that they don’t deserve their achievements, and they fear being exposed as a "fake." It can affect anyone, but it’s particularly common among high achievers who struggle to internalise their accomplishments. Even when they do well, they may attribute their success to external factors like timing or help from others, rather than their own ability or effort.
