A proponent of start-up creativity blended with emerging technologies, he is the creator and host of Attache, an award-winning online travel show aimed at showing frequent travellers all they need to know before visiting a city on company business.
Previously, Alex served as the global Head of Online for the Virgin Group, overseeing the Virgin brand’s global digital strategy in its entirety, as well as Sir Richard Branson’s personal digital strategy.
Before joining the Virgin Group, Alex was part of the founding team of award-winning US airline Virgin America. Receiving several accolades including ad:tech and Webby Award honors, his work at Virgin America was covered by Time magazine, CNN, and CNBC, and he created a digital marketing campaign to build public support for the brand's certification process.
After Virgin, Alex served as the Chief Executive of a venture-backed digital music company, with investment from the backers of Twitter, Tumblr, Medium, and Kickstarter. He steered the company from pre-alpha to a Series A financing, a successful international M&A deal, and multi-national growth in under a year.
Alex has helped young companies prepare for pitches to some of the most influential figures in the tech community. Featured in the best-selling book ‘The Whuffie Factor’ by Tara Hunt, his work with the Prince of Wales' Rainforest Trust engaged the organisation with the use of social media to reflect the Trusts' message. He was also a mentor at the annual SeedCamp venture capital and angel funding event in London and South Africa.
