The Self Storage Association offers members a comprehensive legal package as part of their membership. This includes:

  • A customised Licence Agreement (industry standard contract with terms and conditions). We update our Licence Agreement regularly to ensure maximum legal protection, and our most recent agreement has also been approved by Trading Standards.
  • A managed storage addendum to be used alongside the Licence Agreement when you keep keys to a customer’s unit, or have some other means of accessing their unit without using force.
  • A manual of advice and procedures which covers common issues such as: selling or disposing of goods, death of a storer, police and other authorities gaining access to units, bankruptcy of a business client, and separation of partners with storage.
  • A legal helpline to call to ask any questions on non-common issues.
